Hull Truck Theatre and Pilot Theatre are set to present the world première of Mary and the Hyenas, a powerful new production celebrating the life and legacy of Mary Wollstonecraft. Running from Friday 7 February to Saturday 1 March 2025, this ground-breaking play combines theatre and music to illuminate the story of the pioneering feminist, writer, and philosopher.
Written by Hull playwright Maureen Lennon (Guts! The Musical) and featuring a contemporary score by acclaimed singer-songwriter Billy Nomates, Mary and the Hyenas explores Wollstonecraft’s fight for equality and justice. Directed by Esther Richardson, the production promises an inspiring and humorous tribute to a trailblazer whose impact continues to resonate today.
The ensemble cast includes Laura Elsworthy as Mary Wollstonecraft, with Kate Hampson, Ainy Medina, Elexi Walker, Beth Crame, and Kat Johns-Burke. Together, they will bring Mary’s story to life with songs and words of defiance, capturing her courage and determination.
Tickets are now available, priced between £10 and £29, and can be purchased at hulltruck.co.uk or via the Box Office on 01482 323638. Suitable for ages 13+, the production also offers access performances and schools’ events.
