Based on Harper Lee’s seminal novel, To Kill A Mockingbird is set in 1934 Alabama and follows small-town lawyer Atticus Finch as he defends a Black man wrongly accused of a crime in a deeply prejudiced community. The story explores themes of systemic racism, anti-Black violence, and the loss of innocence, making it as relevant today as it was when it was first published.
The novel has sold over 45 million copies worldwide and won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of modern literature.
Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation has garnered widespread acclaim on Broadway and the West End. Known for his work on The West Wing, The Social Network (Academy Award for Best Screenplay), and A Few Good Men, Sorkin brings his signature narrative style to this production.
Bartlett Sher, renowned for his tenure as Director of New York’s Lincoln Center Theater, has directed several iconic productions, including My Fair Lady, The King and I, and South Pacific.
Performances will run from 8 September to 4 October at Leeds Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre. Tickets are available for Priority Access, Playhouse Pass Members, and Under 30 Scheme participants starting 28 January.
The full cast and creative team will be announced in due course.
