Comedian Emmanuel Sonubi’s ‘Famous Last Words’

Comedian Emmanuel Sonubi's 'Famous Last Words' (1)

Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Emmanuel Sonubi‘s new show ‘Curriculum Vitae’ is a whistle stop tour through the jobs that have led him to become one of the hottest stand-up comics on the circuit.

A hilarious and sometimes poignant journey through a variety of employments and industries, many of which, he was wildly unqualified to do. From working in IT to the doors of London’s nightlife, all this while building up an impressive list of musical theatre credits.

Before the tour starts in Leeds, we asked for his Famous Last Words…

Last thing you did that made you feel good?
I did the school run. That was this morning with four hours sleep after a seven hour drive back from Glasgow last night. I had no ittention of getting up before 11am today but when my two minions came running in to my room and jumped on me at 8:30, all it took was a hug to make me forget it all and happily take them, as my eldest read out from his new joke book the whole way to school.

Last thing you’d want to be doing right now?
The last thing I’d want to be doing now is ANY OTHER JOB! Finding comedy was finding myself and finding happiness to the point that it stops feeling like ‘work’.

Last night on Earth… What’s your poison?
It’s going to have to be a Guinness.

Last supper… What are you ordering?
I think I’d have to go with… Pounded Yams with beef stew, jollof rice and a whole buffet of other Nigeran dishes. Great… now I’m hungry!

Last person you’d want to share a drink with?
Will Smith. I’d like to ask him what on earth was he thinking? I’d love to see what was thinking before and also, the second after. How many things have we all done where immediately after we think, ‘what did I do that for?’.

Last time you shed a tear and why?
I had something deep planned to say but then I stubbed my toe. It really hurt!

Last refuge… where would you go?
Anywhere with a beach. Or, just on a beach. Tropical, not Southend or Brighton.

Last the course… tips on loot, love & life?
Stuff can be replaced, love should be cherished and life should be lived.

Last but one… random question: Tell us about something that interests you that nobody else knows about. Like Gaelic football… or porcelain.
Classical Music from film scores. I have a whole playlist of various pieces from so many films like Gladiator, Terminator 2, True Lies, Harry Potter and many more.

Your Famous Last Words?
Shouldn’t have pressed that!
